A major gas field in the south of Algeria operated by a joint venture of the UK’s BP, Norway’s Statoil and Algerian state energy company Sonatrach was hit by a rocket attack on 18 March, according to statements by the two European companies.

The target of the attack was the In Salah gas complex, one of the largest dry gas joint ventures in the country. The development, about 1,200 kilometres south of Algiers, has production capacity of about 9 bcm/year.
