China imported a record 2.79mn tons of LNG from Australia in April. This cements Australia’s top position in the world’s fastest growing LNG market, and the second largest overall after Japan.

At 8.97mn tons for January-April, Australia-to-China volumes are up 41% year on year, with Australia’s 46% market share up on 44% for 2018 as a whole.

Qatar remains the clear number two supplier to China. But at 3.13mn tons for January-April volumes are down 10% year-on-year.
