US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has visited the region and lectured her hosts on the virtues of democracy. However, it appears that while the Americans think Lebanons parliamentary elections are a good thing, they are less enthusiastic about Irans presidential election, which for the first time has moved into a second-round runoff.
