KNPC Invites Firms To Prequalify For New Refinery
Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) on 4 July invited international companies to apply for prequalification to construct a greenfield 600,000 b/d refinery on a lump-sum turnkey basis. The refinery is expected to cost up to $5bn and be completed by 2010. When the new plant has come on-stream, KNPC plans to shut down the aging Shuʹaiba 200,000 b/d plant.
