US Lawmakers Introduce Anti-OPEC Legislation

US lawmakers in the Senate and the House of Representatives introduced legislation on 1 April to amend antitrust laws to make OPEC criminally liable for price fixing and other anticompetitive practices. The bipartisan Senate measure (S.2270) and the House bill (H.R. 4106) both called for the amendments to the Sherman Act to make oil producing and exporting cartels illegal.
