Caspian Exports Via Batumi Down In 2004

Caspian crude and product exports through the Georgian Black Sea port of Batumi are expected to amount to 6.8mn tons during 2004, down from 8.8mn tons during 2003. The decline in exports through the port is attributed to the political crisis that existed between the Georgian Government and the then breakaway province of Adzhara last March.
