US Delays Aid Negotiations WithIsrael
The US has delayed a meeting with Israeli officials to discuss $12bn in aid ($4bn) and loan guarantees ($8bn) which Israel is seeking over and above the $3bn it receives annually, $2bn of which is military aid. Israel is seeking extra assistance from Washington to mitigate the negative effects which the intifada has had on the Israeli economy.
