Suez Canal Transit Rates Remain Unchanged In 2003

The Suez Canal Authoritys (SCAs) transit rates for 2003 will remain unchanged due to the economic recession, as the SCA Chairman Ahmad 'Ali Fadhil announced earlier this year (MEES, 10 March). Total transit revenue in 2002 rose slightly to $1,963mn from $1,911mn in 2001, while the number of carriers transiting the canal fell slightly to 13,447 in 2002 from 13,986 in 2001.
