MCI Awarded Contract To Supply Initial GSM Facilities To Iraq
Iraq is to receive a Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) network and the contract has been awarded to bankrupt US telecom company MCI (formerly WorldCom). The deal is thought to be worth around $30mn and entails the supply of phone services to 10,000 military personnel and aid workers in Baghdad.
