US Lifts Trade Sanctions On Iraq; Moves To Facilitate Trade Regime
Following the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1483 which lifted sanctions on post-Saddam Iraq, the US on 27 May lifted most of its own remaining sanctions on the war-torn country. The decision was announced by US Treasury Secretary John Snow. According to US officials, the move was a necessary additional step to the lifting of sanctions by the UN in order to allow trade to take place....
