Bush Signs $87Bn Supplemental Appropriations Act
On 6 November at the White House President George W Bush signed the Supplemental Appropriations Act which provides $87bn to support the US presence in Iraq and Afghanistan. The legislation includes a grant of $18.6bn for Iraqs reconstruction, and $65bn to keep US troops in both countries. On 29 October Congress had cleared the way for final passage of the legislation (MEES, 3 November).
