Kazakh President Signs Oil Export Tax Into Law

Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed into law on 2 December new legislation imposing a tax on the export of crude. The legislation received final approval from the parliament on 27 November and with the exception of several articles not directly concerned with the oil industry, the bill will become law as of 1 January 2004, the Russian news agency Interfax reported.
