Vivendi Purchases 35% Stake In Maroc Telecom
The French media company Vivendi Universal announced on 22 December that it had purchased a 35% share in Moroccos state-owned telecoms provider Maroc Telecom for2.3bn, with an option to increase its stake at a later date. Maroc Telecom is the largest cellular phone provider in North Africa, with a growing market for both fixed and mobile lines. The company reported 1Q profits in 2000 of $114mn, a rise of 48%,...
