Turkey Appoints New Energy Minister
Zeki Cakan, a member of Turkeys Motherland Party (ANAP), has been appointed Minister of Energy by Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit. Mr Cakan replaces Cumhur Ersumer, who resigned after being named in the indictment of 15 government officials and businessmen by the Chief Prosecutor on charges of corrupt practices in the countrys energy sector (MEES, 30 April).
