Algerias Foreign Reserves Rise To $14.5Bn
At the end of April Algeria held a record $14.5bn in foreign exchange reserves, a rise of 18% over the end-January figure of $12.3bn. Algerian Minister of Trade Mourad Medelci told a conference organized by the Conseil National Economique et Sociale (CNES) on 15 May that the figures compared to levels as low as $4.4bn at the end of 1999.
