ILSA Extension Bill Introduced To Senate
A bill seeking to extend the Iran-Libya Sanctions Act (ILSA) of 1996 for a further five years was introduced to the US Senate on 7 June by Senators Gordon Smith (R-OR) and Charles Schumer (D-NY). Senator Schumer told reporters that "at a time when tensions are mounting in the Middle East, letting ILSA expire would send the wrong message to Iran and Libya."
