BushSigns ILSA Extension Bill
USPresident George W Bush on 3 August signed into law a five-year extension ofthe Iran and Libya Sanctions Act (ILSA) of 1996, before the law expired on 5August. The final version of the bill, approved in a congressional conference,calls for a review of the sanctions program 24-30 months after the extensioncomes into effect. The Senate version, which called for a review after 18months, was defeated (MEES, 30 July).
