Transneft Says Work On Chechen Bypass Pipeline Underway
Russias ITAR-Tass news agency reported 29 December that a 50-km section of the Chechen bypass pipeline has been completed, as well as 10% of the overall project. The news agency reported that Transneft vice-president Sergei Grigoryev said that work on the bypass would continue despite the outcome of events in Chechenya, where the Russian military is currently battling Islamic rebels.
