UAE Signs $6.4Bn Warplane Deal With Lockheed Martin
The UAE and Lockheed Martin of the US have signed a $6.4bn deal in Abu Dhabi for the delivery of 80 F-16 warplanes starting at the end of 2004. The deal was announced at a news conference on 5 March by the Director of Purchasing for the UAE Armed Forces, 'Ubaid al-Kutbi. It covers the 80 aircraft and associated equipment, including electronic warfare equipment from Northrop Grumman.
