Iran Brings 660,000 Tons/Year Kharg Island Methanol Project Onstream
Irans National Petrochemical Company (NPC) has begun production of methanol from a 660,000 ton/year plant on Kharg Island in the Gulf. The plant is the first of ten petrochemical units to be built under Phases 1 and 2 of Irans Strategic Development Program, under which 29 projects requiring a total investment of $20.6bn are planned to be completed during 1997-2013 (MEES, 3 May 1999).
