The Political Scene
President Clinton and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak focused on the Palestinian track of the peace process in their Washington meeting, and Mr Barak appears to have made a concession of sorts to the Palestinians by agreeing to a closer US involvement in the talks, although whether that will be enough to resolve the differences that have emerged on final status issues is anyones guess.
