Turkey Considers Canal To Bypass Bosphorus
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is considering a plan to build a canal connecting the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara, the Turkish daily Todays Zaman reported on 7 October. The canal would provide a passageway for crude oil and product tankers, enabling them to avoid transiting the Bosphorus and thus reducing the risk of an environmental accident in the busy waterway.
