Turkmenistan's Gas Production Fell 51% In 1997, Reaches Tentative Deal With Ukraine
Turkmenistan reported a fall of 50.8% in its natural gas production during 1997, from35.2bn cu. ms. (BCM) to 17.3 BCM. Officials said output fell as a result of reduced gasexports, primarily to the Caucasus and Ukraine, which were stopped last March. The countryhas set a natural gas production target of 30.2 BCM for 1998. Of this, 4 BCM will go toIran via a new gas pipeline...
