The Political Scene

A visit to Israel by a US congressional delegation has resulted in some unseemlywrangling with the administration back in Washington. A senior EU official has criticizedIsrael harshly, and not just for its trade practices. The visit to Iran by the SaudiForeign Minister has further consolidated relations between the two countries, while avisit to the UAE by the Iranian Foreign Minister ended on an uncharacteristically positivenote.
