BP And Amoco Merge To Enter Global Top Trio Of Oil Majors
The following is the text of a joint statement issued by BP and Amoco in London andChicago on 11 August following the merger agreement between the two companies. The currentcombined market capitalization of $110bn for the merged enterprise - to be called BP Amocop.l.c. - will take the united group into third place, after Exxon and Royal Dutch/Shell,among the world's major oil companies.
