The Political Scene
The Turkish military has warned both Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan and Iran that it takes a dim view of attempts to tamper with Ataturk's legacy of secularism. The French have been debating what - if anything - to do about Algeria and have been told by the Algerians to mind their own business. Syria's Vice President and Foreign Minister have completed a tour of the Arab world.
