Sumed Operated At Full Capacity In 1996
The Sumed pipeline system transported a total of 117.2mn tons (2,344,000 b/d) of crude oil in 1996, according to Sumed sources. This is equal to the line's current throughput capacity, and represents a 9.5% increase over the 1995 transit figure of 107mn tons (2,140,000 b/d) - MEES, 10 February. In the first nine months of 1996, Sumed transported 86.2mn tons (2,300,000 b/d) of crude oil.
