Libya Earns $9.6Bn Foreign Exchange In 1996
The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Mr. Tahir Jahim, saidlast week that Libya's foreign exchange revenues totaled $9.573bn in 1996. The balance ofpayments had a surplus of $680mn and Libya managed to put aside $1bn in "specialsavings." The Governor was addressing the General People's Congress, Libya'sequivalent of parliament.
