Saudi Arabia's Maadin Awarded Gold Mine Concession

The Saudi Government has granted the newly-established Saudi Arabian Mining Company(Maadin) a concession to develop al-Amar gold mine, some 200 kms. south of Riyadh. Maadinwas established in April with a capital of SR4bn ($1,067mn) to organize the Saudi miningsector (MEES, 21 April). It has since taken over the operation of the Mahdal-Dhahab gold mine.
