Iraq: What Are The Alternatives?
The report submitted last week by Mr. Rolf Ekeus, head of the UN Special Commission (UNSCOM), to the UN Security Council has put paid to any chances that the embargo on Iraqi oil exports will be lifted in accordance with Security Council Resolution 687 in the foreseeable future and leaves the Iraqi Government with very few options. One is to continue to ignore realities and to seek the full lifting of UN sanctions....
