IRAN
NIOC Starts Drilling In Caspian Sea
The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) last month started drilling a new Caspian Sea oil well, Meysam-1, using a newly-built drilling platform. The platform, called Iran Khazar, uses technology provided by Rauma-Repola of Finland and was built by Iran Sadra, an affiliate of the Organization for the Expansion and Renovation of Iranian Industries, at a cost of $73mn and IR1bn.
