UAE Buys Used Dutch Frigates
The Dutch Ministry of Defense will sell two used frigates and two tugs to the UAE under a deal worth $350mn, announced on 4 April. The ships, which had been used by the Royal Dutch Navy since 1981 and 1983 respectively, will be upgraded by Thomson CFS's Dutch unit Hollandsche Signaalapparaten and Dutch state-owned shipyard Koninklijke Schelde Groep. The deal also includes technical and operational training.
