Talks Begin On Saudi Membership In WTO
Saudi Arabia on 2 May started negotiations to join the Geneva-based World Trade Organization (WTO). The Saudi Minister of Commerce, Mr. Usama Faqih, who headed the Saudi delegation, said that the Kingdom would like to enter at developing country status, which would allow it a certain amount of maneuverability in applying the WTO's trade rules.
