Iraqi Economy In Dire Need Of Reforms
The Iraqi economy, devastated by six years of UN trade sanctions, is in dire need of structural economic reforms, according to the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mr. 'Isam Huwaish. In an interview with Reuters on 28 May, the Governor said that the current economic ills began last year when Iraq decided to wage a war against inflation which had reached "65,000% at the end of 1995."
