BP Buys Egyptian Fuel Oil British Petroleum (BP) has contracted to buy 50,000 tons a month of low-sulfur fuel oil throughout 1997 from the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC). BP will pay Platt's FOB Med mean +$7.76 a ton. The BP contract accounts for 60% of the quantity EGPC wants to sell and no decision has yet been made on the award of the remainder.
