UN Sanctions Affecting Libya's Downstream Industry
MEES understands from industry sources that the impact of the UN sanctionsagainst Libya has been more pronounced on the downstream side of the industry,basically the refineries, rather than on the upstream side where the country'sproduction has been averaging around 1.35 - 1.4mn b/d.
The Security Council decided in November 1993, among other things, to ban thesupply of equipment for Libyan refineries...
