UN Compensation Commission Approves First Payments For Gulf War Claimants
The Governing Council of the UN Compensation Commission announced on 26 Maythat it had endorsed recommendations made by the Panel of Commissioners and willmake the first compensation payments to victims of the Iraqi invasion and occupation of Kuwait in August 1990. Some $2.7mn will be disbursed within the nextfew weeks.
