The Political Scene
The fighting continues in Yemen despite the efforts of the UN special envoy,Mr. Lakhdar al-Ibrahimi. Aid donors have promised the PLO some (but not much)badly needed cash at a meeting in Paris. US Secretary of State WarrenChristopher's on-again-off-again visit to the region to mediate between Israeland Syria appears to be off again. Israel has completed the release of some5,000 Palestinian prisoners.
