Security Council Renews Sanctions And Awaits Ekeus Report
The UN Security Council has, as expected, rolled over the sanctions againstIraq at its regular, bi-monthly review held on 14 September. As in the previoustwo sessions, the US succeeded in preventing the issuing of a statementrecognizing Iraqi cooperation with the UN. Talks are now focusing on thepossibility of Iraq formally recognizing Kuwait and the new borders, as well asthe Security Council...
