The Political Scene
The summer doldrums in the Middle East have been enlivened by a series ofattacks on Col. Qadhafi's pan-Arabist policies in the official Libyan media, butthis appeared to herald a change of policy rather than leadership. The Americansare annoyed at the Jordanians because of the flow of goods through Jordan toIraq. Israel's lacklustre election campaign has focussed on the future of theoccupied Golan Heights.
