AIOC Decides Two Routes Are Better Than One
The Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) announced on 9 October that it has decided to export its initial crude production from the Caspian Sea through two existing pipelines, one through Russia, the other through Georgia, both of which terminate on the Black Sea. Preliminary plans call for initial oil exports of around 80,000 b/d by the end of 1996 or early 1997.
