US House Approves Bill To Use Frozen Iraqi Assets For Claims
The US House of Representatives approved on 28 April a bill creating a USTreasury fund that will use $1.2bn in frozen Iraqi assets held in the US tocover American claims against Iraq. The bill allows the US Foreign Claims Settlement Commission to use the Iraqi assets to pay in part some of the $5bnin claims that American companies and citizens have made against Iraq as aresult of the latter's invasion...
