Venezuela Suspends Oil Shipments to Cuba
Venezuela's Foreign Minister Humberto Calderon Berti said on 15 May that hiscountry has suspended its three-way oil swap with Cuba and Russia, becauseMoscow was no longer holding up its side of the bargain. Set up in the early1980s, the deal called for Venezuela to provide Cuba with 60,000 b/d of crudeoil, while the then Soviet Union supplied Venezuela's joint venture oilsubsidiary in Germany with an equal amount.
