White House Ends Freeze of Kuwaiti Assets and Renews Sanctions AgainstIraq
US President George Bush signed an executive order on 26 July releasingKuwaiti assets that were blocked in the US after the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait ayear ago and renewing the sanctions against Iraq "because the Government ofIraq has continued its activities hostile to US interests in the MiddleEast." The order keeps the trade ban in place and continues the freeze onIraqi assets.
