Kuwait Elections Law Challenged
The Kuwaiti government on 15 August asked the country’s top court to rule whether a 2006 electoral law is constitutional. This immediately triggered an outcry from opposition politicians. The law reduced the 50-member parliament’s number of constituencies to five. Previously there were 25 constituencies, which made election rigging in favor of the government easier, according to the opposition.
