US Oil Firms To Remain In Syria Despite Sanctions, But Wary Of Future
MEES learns from industry sources that US oil firms with interests in Syria, having taken legal advice, will continue to operate in the country, despite President Bushs decision of 11 May to impose sanctions on Damascus (for the full text of the Executive Order, see page D 11). While the sanctions ban the export of most US goods to Syria, they put no restrictions on investment in the country....
