US State Department Cautions Congress Against Harder Sanctions On Syria
The US State Department's coordinator for counter- terrorism, Mr. Philip Wilcox, told a hearing of the House International Relations Committee on 25 July that the State Department did not recommend the implementation of tougher sanctions against Syria in order to persuade Damascus to end its support for groups deemed terrorist by the US Government.
