Qatar Liberalizes Interest Rates On Long-Term Deposits
In a further modernization of Qatar's capital market, economists in Doha confirm thatthe Central Bank has freed interest rates which may be paid on deposits of 15 months ormore. Most deposits in the Qatari banking system are short term - as they are elsewhere inthe Middle East - so the effect of this move will for the moment be limited becauseinterest rates on short-term deposits remain fixed at a maximum...
