Increase In US Imports Of Iraqi Crude Oil
US oil firms have increased their imports of Iraqi crude oil under the UN-sponsoredoil-for-food program, with the import volume to the US rising from an average of 85,989b/d in 1997 to 100,474 b/d during the first four months of 1998. However, the number ofcompanies importing Iraqi crude to the US declined from 10 in 1997 to three - Chevron,Clark and Exxon - in the first four months of this year (see table below).
