Oxy Spuds First Well In West 'Ish Al-Mallaha Concession
Occidental Petroleum has spudded the first exploration well in the West 'Ishal-Mallaha onshore tract on the Egyptian mainland west of the Gulf of Suez. Thewell, WEEM-1, is located in the north of the concession and will be drilled toa depth of 3,850 ft. It is intended to test sandstone formations that areproductive in offshore parts of the Gulf of Suez.
